800 Fifth Avenue is regarded is one of New York City's most prestigious addresses and luxury rental residences. Built in 1979, the 33-story, yellow brick tower overlooks Central Park and The Plaza Hotel. Owners sought an elegant new design for the elevator lobby that complemented the white glove service afforded to building tenants.
Cambridge's Plaza pattern -- done in a unique combination of stainless steel and brass -- was selected by designers for the new lobby decor. Skilled craftsmen then applied a rapid oxidation process to achieve a darker patina for the metal.
Lining the building's elevator corridor, the mesh clads and protects against scrapes and scrathes on the lobby walls caused by tenant and visitor traffic for the 208-unit building. The metal creates an allure and refined style with a design solution that is virtually maintenance free and lasts a lifetime.
